How this calculator works
This tool uses the American Diabetes Association's validated formula from the A1c-Derived Average Glucose (ADAG) study:
eAG (mg/dL) = 28.7 × A1c − 46.7
Because your red blood cells live about 3 months, the sugar attached to them reflects your average blood glucose over that time. That's why A1c is such a powerful long-term measure — it can't be "gamed" by fasting the morning of your test.
