Important: PawMetrics is an educational resource. It is not a veterinary clinic and does not provide medical advice for your individual dog. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical concerns.

Educational use only

All calculators, articles, and other content on PawMetrics are intended for general educational purposes. They cannot account for your individual dog's complete medical history, breed-specific risks, current medications, behavioural patterns, or any other factor that requires direct veterinary assessment.

No veterinary-patient relationship

Using the site does not create a veterinary-patient relationship between you and PawMetrics. We are not your dog's veterinarian.

Accuracy of calculators

Our calculators are based on widely accepted veterinary formulas (RER × MER for calories, the 1–9 BCS scale, the 2020 epigenetic-clock formula for age, etc.) and reflect general consensus at the time of writing. However:

  • Individual dogs vary by ±20–30% from population averages.
  • Medical conditions may significantly alter actual needs.
  • Veterinary science evolves — recommendations can change as new research emerges.
  • Calculator outputs are starting estimates, not prescriptions.

When to consult a veterinarian — not a calculator

Always see a vet if your dog shows any of the following:

  • Sudden weight loss or gain.
  • Loss of appetite for more than 24 hours.
  • Excessive thirst or urination.
  • Lethargy or behavioural change.
  • Vomiting, diarrhoea, or signs of pain.
  • Any concerning symptom for which a calculator cannot substitute.

Emergency situations

For emergencies — suspected poisoning, severe injury, breathing difficulty, collapse, bloat — contact an emergency veterinarian or poison control hotline immediately. Do not consult an online calculator instead of seeking emergency care.

Limitation of liability

PawMetrics and its operators expressly disclaim liability for any decisions made based on information from this site. Use our tools as one resource among many. Final decisions about your dog's care should always involve a licensed veterinarian.

Affiliate and sponsored content

If any article or page contains affiliate links or sponsored content, this will be clearly disclosed. As of the effective date of this disclaimer, PawMetrics does not actively use affiliate links — but this may change. Any commercial relationship will be disclosed transparently.
