How to use the calculator
List your stock by category
You don't need every single item — group them (e.g. "kids' clothes", "books", "homeware"). Add the rough quantity and an average price each.
Set a realistic sell-through
Be honest about how much will actually sell. 70% is a sensible default; popular lines may hit 80–90%, niche items often less.
Add the day's costs
Pitch fee, fuel and anything else. These come straight off your takings, so don't skip them.
Read it, export, decide

Frequently asked questions
Is the Car Boot Sale Profit Calculator free to use?
Yes. It's completely free, needs no account or sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server — your figures stay on your device.
How does the calculator estimate my profit?
For each line of stock it multiplies your quantity by your expected sell-through percentage to estimate units sold, then by your price each to get revenue. It adds up every line for gross takings, subtracts your pitch fee, fuel and other costs, and shows your net profit, profit per item and break-even point.
What is a realistic sell-through rate for a car boot sale?
Most sellers shift somewhere between 50% and 80% of their stock on a good day, depending on pricing, weather and footfall. Popular lines like children's items often go higher; niche or pricier pieces go lower. The calculator defaults to 70% so you can adjust each line to match your experience.
Can I save or export my results?
Yes. Use 'Download CSV' to save a full breakdown you can open in Excel or Google Sheets, or 'Print' to take a paper copy to your pitch. Your last entry is also remembered in your browser for next time.
Does it include the pitch fee and fuel?
It does. Add your stall or pitch fee, your fuel and travel cost, and any extras such as table hire or refreshments. These are subtracted from your takings so the profit figure reflects what you'll really pocket.
Is this an official figure or an estimate?
It's an estimate to help you plan. Real takings depend on the day, your prices and how busy the sale is. Treat the result as a confident guide, not a guarantee.
